WWII ace
Louis Delfino was born in Nice in 1911.
He becomes a pilot and then a fighter pilot. During WWII he fights in France against the nazis and scores 7 victories.
After the armistice he keeps fighting and eventually joins the Free Frenchs. He will serve in the french "Normandie Niémen" squadron, based in the USSR. He becomes its leader during the last campain in Prussia, in early 1945.
At the end of the war he totals 20 victories, among which 16 are homologated.
He will become an Air force General, the Air force Chief of staff and dies at 56.
A large boulevard and a garden bear his name.
